A Billionaire BWWM Romance 4: The Proposal Page 6
“She’s okay now. She has just been under a lot of stress lately,” she said.
“What do you mean? And what is this stuff about her ex?” Steven asked.
“Byron Sadler, top of the range ass hole,” she said. “They have a son together and he made it clear that he never wanted anything to do with being a parent. So, since that boy was born, it has always been Meg doing whatever she can making sure that he has everything he needs. When he finally decided he wanted to be a father again, she made plans for Charlie, her boy, to spend time with his father. But now that the ass hole finally has a steady job he suddenly decides that he wants full custody,” Julie explained. She took another bite. “I think the pressure was just too much. I mean there was nothing wrong with her. She was just fatigued and a bit iron deficient,” she added.
“So, where is she now? The hospital?” he asked. Julie shook her head.
“Home. The doctor wanted her to stay the night for observation, but she wouldn’t hear of it. She just wanted to go home. Her aunt went with her and she has some sedatives and supplements. So everything should be just fine by tomorrow,” she said before she took another bite. She looked at him and took a long, deep breath.
“What?” Steven asked.
“Sometimes I think I just want us to remain like this. Simply happy for the rest of our lives. No complications or anything,” she said. Steven smiled and nodded.
“I want the same thing,” he said. He suddenly felt his heart beating harder and faster. Was this it? Was this the chance he had been waiting for? Had it just presented itself to him?
“You know it’s shit like this that makes me rethink marriage,” Julie said as she took a bite. Her words were like a double edged sword, piercing through his organs. He looked at her and raised an eyebrow.
“What?” he asked.
“Byron and Meg were the happiest couple I had ever seen. And then after that trip to Vegas everything changed. Sure they were happy for the first few months, but everything came crashing down pretty fast,” she said. Steven’s heart was breaking with every word she said.
“But babe, we are not them. We could make it work,” Steven said. Julie took the last bite and looked at him and then smiled.
“I know, but there have been so many stories that make me think twice about the whole idea of marriage. Meg isn’t the only person. There are two of my cousins and some friends from college…it’s just an ugly story that one,” she said. Steven took a long sip of his wine and then poured himself some more. “Whoa babe. Why don’t you pace yourself there?” she asked as she looked at him.
“I don’t think I have a reason to,” he said as he stood up.
“Really? Because the way I know you I am quite sure you have dessert,” she said. Steven took his plate and then took hers.
“You’re right,” he said as he walked the dirty plates to the sink. Now he had to propose to a woman who clearly hated everything about marriage. There was no way this was going to work. This was doomed before it even began. He was distraught.
“So, what’s for dessert?” Julie called out from the dining room.
“Cake and ice cream,” he said loud enough for her to hear. He heard her gasp.
“Did you make the ice cream yourself?” she asked as Steven walked back with two side plates.
“Right down to the liquid nitrogen,” he replied, forcing a smile. Julie looked at him and smiled.
“You spoil me too much babe,” she said. He looked at her and smiled.
“Is that a bad thing?” he asked. She leaned forward and kissed him. “What was that for?”
“Thanking you for spoiling me,” she said smiling.
“I should keep doing it if it means I will be getting this every minute,” he teased.
“Come on, I kiss you all the time,” she said.
“Want to sit in the living room with me?” he asked.
“Sure,” she said as they walked out of the dining room. She sat down next to him and looked at him. “Can I ask you something?” she asked. Steven smiled and shrugged.
“Did I offend you? You know with the marriage talk?” she asked. Steven looked at her and shrugged.
“You were expressing yourself,” he said. “I don’t mind you keeping it real with me,” he added. She smiled and leaned her head against his shoulder.
“Sometimes you are a bit too gangster for me, babe,” she said as she looked at him. He smiled and kissed her forehead. “But seriously though, I always dreamed of getting married to that perfect man, but of late I have been having my reservations. It’s like I got the last good man left.”
“So you wouldn’t mind being my wife someday?” Steven asked. Julie smiled and shrugged.
“Maybe, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it,” she said as she took a bite of her dessert. “This is delicious.” All Steven could do was smile even though he couldn’t hear anything she was saying. He was all out of romantic gestures. He needed to consult with Dana and Meg. Stat!

“I am telling you it was a disaster,” Steven said to Dana. The two were at Meg’s place. They had decided to conveniently meet there at exactly the same time they knew Julie would be busy. Meg sat up in bed and looked at Steven.
“What the hell happened? Did the chef put the ring in the wrong glass? Or was it supposed to be a cake? I don’t remember,” Meg said looking at Dana.
“It was supposed to be a chocolate soufflé,” Dana said. “So, what? Did the waiter screw up? Did some poor girl say yes to a question a man who never wanted to ask her in the first place?” she asked. Steven smiled and shook his head.
“Well, for starters the restaurant never worked out because Juelz had a best friend emergency,” he said. Meg frowned and buried her head in her hands.
“I ruined my own best friend’s engagement,” she said in a muffled voice.
“Actually no. I was determined to do it so I went back to my place and made dinner…” “What did you make?” Dana asked cutting him short.
“What does that have to do with anything?” he asked.
“Well, the platter matters. You cannot ask a woman to marry you over mac and cheese,” Dana said.
“True that,” Meg agreed nodding. Steven shrugged.
“Fine it was duck. I made pan fried duck with raspberry sauce,” he said.
“I don’t even know if that dish has any kind of aphrodisiacs, but it just sounds sexy,” Dana said. Meg smiled at Steven.
“Yeah, there is no way I would say no to raspberry duck sauce,” she said.
“Pan fried duck and raspberry sauce,” Steven corrected her. “And she didn’t say no,” he added. Meg’s eyes grew wide.
“So, you’re engaged?” she asked excitedly.
“No. What part of ‘it was a disaster’ did you not get?” he asked looking at Meg.
“This is the point you tell us what went wrong,” Dana explained, looking at Steven.
“Well, apparently most of her close friends and family have had really bad luck with marriage. So she doesn’t really think very highly of the marriage institution,” he said.
“And she said this during dinner?” Dana asked. Steven nodded.
“Oh yeah, and I was just sitting there with the ring in my pocket feeling like an idiot,” he said. “And my sister almost ruined everything because she called Julie last night and I had to grab the phone and make sure she didn’t jump the gun.” Dana and Meg exchanged looks.
“So she actually said that she doesn’t want to get married?” Meg asked.
“In so many words, but she did say she didn’t want anything to change,” he said.
“Meaning?” Dana asked.
“Meaning she wants us to remain happy,” he said. “It’s almost like our happiness streak will end the moment we walk down the aisle,” he added. Dana shrugged.
“I don’t know Davenport. Don’t you think that maybe you are reading too much into this? I mean she does love you and she wants to be happy,”
she said.
“Yeah, Steven. I’ve known her longer than you have, so believe me when I tell you that, that hard outer shell she has is just a mask she wears to cover up her true self,” Meg said. “And you guys are not Sadler and I. You are probably better than Dana and her husband and those two have the best relationship I know,” she added.
“Aww, thanks,” Dana said with a smile.
“Think of what’s important to her and then make that your grand gesture,” Meg said. Steven looked at her and smiled.
“So what’s the most important thing to her?” he asked. Dana and Meg looked at each other and smiled.
“That’s easy. Family,” Dana said. Meg nodded.
“Think of something Davenport and then let us help you get that woman,” she said with a smile.
Chapter 7
“What are you talking about? We’ve had time to ourselves,” Julie said smiling. She and Steven were having breakfast at Amelia’s on Monday morning.
“No, we’ve been having a lot of sex lately. We haven’t really had any time to just sit and talk, like we’re doing now,” he said as he sipped on his tea. She looked at him and then leaned forward.
“Are you complaining, Mr. Davenport?” she asked with a smile. He shook his head and took her hand in his.
“If I ever tell you that we are having too much sex, there is a gun in my safe. You know the combination Use it on me, right here,” he joked as he pointed to his forehead. She smiled and shrugged.
“So, what exactly are you saying?” she asked.
“Remember what happened two weeks ago when we were set to have a movie night?” he asked. She squinted and shook her head.
“The trip you took to DC?” she asked. He nodded.
“And then that weekend when we were supposed to go to the Poconos?” he continued.
“I had to go home for the weekend. But in all fairness, we made up….” Julie started before he shook his head. “No we didn’t, we just had a whole lot of sex that made us both late for work on Monday,” she added. She gave him a guilty look. “Maybe you are right,” she said.
“And that is not all. Last week’s dinner plans?” he asked.
“Hey, I came over and had that delicious duck you had prepared for me,” Julie said before she sipped on her coffee.
“Yes I did, but how do you know I didn’t have something else planned for later?” he asked. Julie raised one eyebrow over the other.
“Did you?” she asked.
“No, but I could have had plans,” Steven said quickly. She looked at him and smiled.
“So, what do you have planned for later?” she asked.
“Today?” he asked. Julie shrugged and nodded. “Nothing really but I thought we would have something special this week. Wednesday,” he said.
“Wednesday? Wouldn’t it be better to have it on Friday or Saturday?” she asked.
“It’s a bank holiday on Wednesday. So I thought the only way I would get you is in the middle of the week,” he said. Julie looked at him confused.
“What?” she asked.
“I know you were probably going to sleep in and then watch some reruns so instead I decided to get you and everyone you love on a mini-cruise,” he said. Julie raised an eyebrow again.
“You have a boat?” she asked.
“There’s a lot you don’t know about me Miss Parker. Stick around,” he said. She pushed a strand of hair behind her ear and looked at him.
“You know what? I won’t even ask,” she said as she looked around the table. She picked up her bag and rummaged through it before she looked up. “Have you seen my phone?”
“Maybe you left it at my office,” Steven said as he threw a few bills on the table. “Maybe we should go and get it or I can bring it later,” he said. She shook her head.
“There’s a number on there that I need. I have to get it,” she said as she stood up.
“Alright. We’ll take my car. Terrence will drop you here so you can get yours,” he said. She smiled as they walked out. “Do you have any idea how sexy you look in that dress?” he asked in a whisper when he slipped an arm around her waist.
“I know. You told me that in the morning when I wore it,” Julie said as she looked at him. Steven looked into her eyes and smiled.
“Well, you sure are sexy, Miss Parker,” he said as he opened the car door for her. “The office Terrence,” he said when he got in.
“Yes sir, Mr. Davenport,” Terrence said and then started the car. Julie was smiling all the way to Steven’s office because she had a plan all along. She was happy that she had her phone on silent mode. She wouldn’t have wanted to give away her secret plan. When they got to Steven’s office, Steven went right to looking around for her phone.
“I am not really sure where it could be. Is it possible that you might have left it in your office or your car?” he asked after he had looked in all the possible places. She grinned and shook her head.
“I talked to you in the elevator on the way here, remember?” she asked as she locked the door. Steven looked at her when he saw her closing the blinds.
“What are you doing?” he asked, looking at her. She turned around and undid the brooch button that held her wrap around dress together at her hip. She smiled at him as she pulled the two sides of the white floral dress apart and then let it drop to the ground, gathering around her ankles like white petals. She stepped out of the dress and walked towards him slowly. “The building across…” he started saying before she tugged on the chord that brought the curtains together. Steven looked at her and smiled.
“I hope you don’t have any urgent meetings in the next hour,” she said in a soft voice as she stood in front of him. Steven looked at her and smiled before he shook his head. She smiled and slowly ran her fingers down his chest. “Good,” she said before she leaned forward and kissed him deeply as she undid the buttons on his shirt. She pulled away and looked into his eyes as she worked on his belt buckle. Even in the dimly lit room, she could see the way his pupils were dilated. A sure sign of his arousal. She pushed him against the desk and then got down on her knees.
“Julie…” he said as she pulled down his boxer shorts. She smiled and looked up at him as she held his already hard member in her hand. She stroked him gently and then leaned forward to kiss the sensitive tip of his cock. Steven threw his head back and moaned softly as she began taking his entire length inside her mouth. She then pulled him out of her wet mouth and circled her tongue on the tip of his cock. He looked down at her as his cock disappeared in her mouth over and over. She was taking every bit of him, every last inch. She moaned softly as she positioned herself to take in his entire manhood making him shiver. “Julie…you are going to make me cum,” Steven said in a low voice. But that didn’t slow her down. If anything, the words only fueled her. She was taking him harder and deeper and he was holding her head against his crotch. She went on pleasuring him orally until it reached such a point when she felt that he’d had enough. She pulled away from him and looked at the monster she had helped create. “Come up here,” he said. It was more of a command than a request. He held her by the waist and then turned her around getting her on the desk. He wasn’t even looking at her anymore. He quickly pulled her panties down and looked at her as he spread her legs. He then kissed her deeply as he pushed himself into her. Julie exhaled into his mouth as he began moving in and out of her.
Julie wrapped an arm around his shoulders as he began moving himself in and out of her, slowly at first and then faster as he went on. She was trying hard not to moan or scream, but it seemed almost impossible. And Steven knew this. So he kissed her again as he began thrusting into her harder.
“You feel so…perfect,” he said breathlessly when he pulled away from her. She held on to him as he went on pushing himself into her. It was all too perfect. It was all so right.
“Baby…” she moaned softly as she felt her impending orgasm beckoning. He held her tightly and thrust into her harder and deeper until
he felt them both explode at the same time. Their passion entwined and became one just as he kissed her. When he pulled away from her, she was shaking. He looked at her and smiled.
“Like I said, the day I complain of too much sex, you have to kill me,” he said as he pulled himself out of her. She gasped and smiled.
“You…I love you Steven Davenport and I love what you do to me,” she whispered.
“I love what you do to me too,” he said before he kissed her again. She got her feet down and kicked her shoes off before she walked to the bathroom to get cleaned up.
“Did I ever tell you how much I love the private bathroom thing? I should get Dana to give me one of those,” she said as she walked out. Steven looked at her and walked into the bathroom, leaving her to get dressed. She then put on her shoes and then opened the blinds as Steven sat down.
“Now I’m sleepy,” he groaned as he leaned back in his seat.
“Get a power nap. You deserve it,” she said as she picked up her bag.
“Hey, your phone. We never found it,” he said. Julie smiled and then fished her phone out of her bag. Steven smiled. “You never really lost it, did you?” he asked. She shook her head and shrugged.
“You got to admit, this relationship works because I am so damn innovative,” she said. Steven smiled and blew her a kiss.
“Remember, Wednesday,” he said. She blew him a kiss and nodded.
“Noted,” she said before she walked out. She poked her head through his doorway and looked at him. “Tonight? Yours or mine?”
“What do you want?” he asked.
“Depends. Are you cooking?” she winked. He smiled and nodded.
“If you want,” he offered.
“Good. Your place it is,” she declared before she walked out. When she was in the elevator, she felt her phone vibrate. She looked at it and smiled when she saw Steven was the sender.
The reason this relationship works is because I am a good chef with awesome bedroom skills, and also because you are madly in love with me. Julie smiled and typed a quick I do before she clicked send.
